2018 was an incredible year: (1) I did my first triathlon, (2) did my first Ironman 70.3, (3) qualified for ITU triathlon world championships, (4) came 1st woman in a triathlon and a 10k race, (5) clocked my fasted run time ever in a 5k and 10k! According to Strava I’ve done 1,400km of running, close to 2000km of cycling and 180km of swimming.
This year has been pretty crazy, and a test of my patience, motivation, and perseverance when it came to training, but I’m happy to have tackled everything that came my way even when sometimes the motivation was lacking and all I wanted was to eat some cake and take a nap!
People say it’s all in the mind and I think it’s definitely true – anyone can achieve anything if they put their mind to it. I’m very lucky to be surrounded by amazing people who do crazy things and push themselves everyday. To each and every person who coached/guided/inspired me in my first year of triathlon… I cannot express how grateful I am to each of you for your support and cheer that you provide. I could not have done it without each of you, you motivate me to continue to be a better athlete and most importantly a better person.
For all this I’m truly grateful. Next year I hope to improve on what I already have and I hope 2019 is another year of hard work and development.
I’ll be running Boston and racing internationally in a GB suit for the first time (!) so I look forward to what happens and all who share in it with me.
- Boston Marathon
- ITU Aquathlon World Championships (Pontevedra, Spain)
